Mission Replay Points


MRP are what you receive when you run a Mission Replay or a Red Alert with SRS. MRP are calculated using a custom built algorithm that analyses your performance within the team and works in conjunction with the data from the combat log parser SCM. Here is the current MRP leaderboard

Note that Mission Replay has a 2x multiplier to the MRP to allow for the much longer time it takes to run. In addition, any PvP called for by a red alert benefits from a flat 1000 point award per player.

How to gain more MRP (Mission Replay Points)

Take a look at the current calculator so you can see what aspects of the parse are measured, you can find it here: CALCULATOR

No longer are MRP just given out for turning up, now you can earn thousands of points by having the right build. For right build read "highest contributing team member". DPS is important but it's not the be all and end all it used to be. In order to be more useful in the team you need not only good DPS but also you need to soak up the damage taking pressure off the less hardy ships. So MRP measures the % of attacks which is governed by your threat level and by the aggro you stir up. So fire at will and scatter volley will help you there. Don't forget to also enable threatening stance, also any AoE that aggros the whole group will ensure you're targeted, grav well for example. Now, if you can do this and dish out reasonable DPS you're going to also be doing a high percentage of the team's damage. However, you are also going to be under attack the most and therefore you'd better make sure your ship can take the heat.

To summarise

Reasonable DPS >25K
High % attacks in >30%
Should result in reasonable % of team damage

These three will ensure good MRP, unless...

You die. If you die you are heavily penalised the first time, losing about half your MRP, the second death about half again and so on. A dead player is useless to the team and can spend up to 30 seconds to get back into the fight, that's why players that die lose a large amount of DPS.

So if you are turning up the threat you had better build in contingencies, these include...

Reverse Shield Polarity - very handy if you are running out of shields.

Hazard emitters - removes powerful DoTs like the Romulan or Borg plasma burn

Continuity (Temporal reputation), safe in the knowledge you can effectively die without cost once every 3 min

Resistances on your ship at least 50% on all but radiation damage.

In the end the new MRP system is designed to help you analyse your build and make improvements that support the whole team and thereby make you a better Captain in the STO universe. It's challenging and the results are sometimes surprising, your 100K DPS will mean squat if you only get 2% of the agro, now a supporting tank can stand a very good chance of picking up some of the top prizes.
